Looking for something fun to do with some friends or family? There are many activities around Singapore that you could try but none are as delicious as Mookata. So what is Mookata? Well, it is a Thai style of grilling BBQ pork using a hotpot that is in the shape of a dome. These restaurants are usually all you can eat establishments where you grill and cook your own pork and meat, using various ingredients that can be found at the place you have chosen. You would then combine the meat with either traditional style plain water or a flavored broth to create a mouthwatering soup.
This is a fun way to bond with the people you care about and fill your tummy at the same time but there are many places that offer Mookata in Singapore, so where are the best ones? We got you covered because we narrowed it down to the top ten best in the city:
Siam Square Mookata
What better place to start than one of the very first Mookata establishments in Singapore. Siam Square is one of the original Mookata pioneers that are still around and serving authentic flavors. They have a number of locations but we would recommend the restaurant at the Golden Mile Tower. This is because the location is not only amazing but they also have a larger variety of ingredients you can choose from ranging from seafood to meat, they even have free ice cream.

Mookata, Traditional Thai BBQ
Another restaurant that has been around for quite a while but despite being an older establishment, they are constantly keeping things fresh with new flavors and ingredients to stay trendy. They have a superb selection of meat, particularly their Pork Collar and Pork Sukiyaki. The special marination sauce is also superb and is generously slathered onto the meat to ensure that every bite is an explosion of flavor.

Tom Yum Kungfu
If you are looking for a bit more colorful vibe, then you will want to try out Tom Yum Kungfu. They offer a quirky and modern experience. However, they not only offer a unique environment to check out but they also have an array of topnotch food such as their clear broth which is boiled from crabs, vegetables, and pork bones. They also use coal for their grills, which provides a rustic flavor that you won’t find in many other restaurants.
We recommend their marinated pork collar and chicken thighs, which were especially good after grilled. They were both quite tender and mouthwatering.

Huay Kwang Thai Kitchen
This restaurant is a good middle ground for when you want to try some Mookata but also are looking for a lowkey atmosphere. Their meat is not the best but it is still quite delicious, especially when paired with their terrific soup, which is a light broth containing cabbage and pork bones. Their chili sauce is also something that you will definitely want to write home about.
If you are a student, you will be pleased to know they offer a promo at their Thomson outlet at $22.90 per person with a minimum of 4 people at 4:30pm – 5:30pm.

Cheese Story Mookata Buffet
Located within the Golden Mile Complex, Cheese Story Mookata Buffet offers a tantalizing selection of ingredients including fresh crayfish and oysters. However, you have to be quick as they disappear as soon as they are put out! And like the name of the restaurant suggests, you can also indulge in their amazing cheese dip, which is a blend of mozzarella and nacho cheese. This dip goes great with everything from your seafood to meat.

Bangkok Street Mookata
When you are looking for an authentic Thai Mookata experience in Singapore, then you cannot go wrong with Bangkok Street Mookata. They are also one of the more affordable Mookata establishments in Singapore. However, you definitely get a big bang with your buck because they offer a large selection of ingredients that will meet the tastes of anyone. Their seafood selection is also quite superb with options such as slipper lobster, king prawns, scallops, and more. Their authentic homemade spicy chili sauce is a must try.

Opening Hours: 5:00pm – 3:00am (Daily)
This is a unique establishment because of their extensive exhaust system. This means if you do not want to smell like food afterwards, this is the restaurant that you will want to go to. They also use authentic charcoal pots instead of more modern gas stoves, for a better and rustic flavor. Their pots are also quite large, compared to other places, which makes it easier to cook the meat without worrying about it falling into the soup. We don’t particularly have any recommendations because all the food they offer is very tasty.

New Udon Moo-Kata
This restaurant is also located within Golden Mile. Their call to fame is their sweet Thai milk tea and expertly seasoned meats. However, they also have a wide range of dishes such as glass noodles, vegetables, seafood, and of course an array of tender and succulent meats. New Udon Moo-Kata also makes a homemade chili sauce, which is rather good.

Happy Mookata [Closed]
If you are looking for a no-frills mookata experience, this is the place for you. They are one of the more affordable mookata buffets in the city but it does not mean their food is less quality than the competition. They also use a unique gas hotpot that does not have grill holes in it. This means as you cook the grease from the meat will drip down into the soup, which will make it quite tasty and rich.
They do not have the biggest variety of food around but what they do have is exquisite nonetheless. Their beef and chicken will definitely have you coming back for more.

This is one of the more popular Mookata establishments in Singapore and you will be hard pressed to find a time where there is no long queue outside the door. However, the wait is definitely worth it or if you do not want to wait, you can also book a reservation ahead of time.
Ladyboy Mookata only serves the best ingredients and their lamb, pork belly, and pork collar are something you should definitely try. The lamb is juicy and melts in your mouth and when you dip it into their cheese dip, your taste buds will be begging for more.
